We employ approximately 60 staff across our
sites at Pointes Lane and Bulwer Avenue.
We offer a variety of opportunities for entry level General Operatives, skilled Plant Operators, qualified Drivers and Supervisors/Managers.
We are also committed to the Guernsey Employment Trust Charter, and offer work experience placements to candidates who would like to learn more about our industry before applying for a role.
Whether you start your journey at Island Waste as a new General Operative without any qualifications, or have prior experience and vehicle licenses, we offer a range of training opportunities to enable you to progress your career within our industry, including:
- Training to achieve Forklift, Hiab, Hooklift and Skip Truck licenses
- Training to achieve a Category 6 / HGV driving license
- Apprenticeship programs in partnership with the College of Further Education
- WAMITAB (Waste Management and Recycling) Qualifications at Level 1 – 4
- Other specialist interest, depending on your identified interests and need within the Group

HGV Driver
GRG is a leading recycling and waste management company, proudly helping local businesses and households to recycle as much as possible. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced driver to join our busy Team at Island Waste.
Main responsibilities will be delivering and collecting, all training will be provided, but you will be driving a range of vehicles in our fleet, which are:
Hi-ab
Skips
Hooklift
We are looking for an experienced driver, who will need:
-Category C (6) Licence
– Be a good team worker.

- Health Insurance upon successful completion of a 3-month probation period.

Standard hours are based on 40 hours per week, over 5 days, 07.00am – 15.00pm Monday to Friday. Some overtime maybe required.

Trainee HGV Driver
Island Waste are on the hunt for aspiring HGV Drivers!
Are you interested in driving? Still need to pass your test?
We are looking for someone to start work immediately as a passenger and learn the role. As soon as you achieve your HGV Licence you will be employed as a Driver.
What do we provide?
- Funding for driving lessons with a qualified instructor
- Funding for both the theory and practical HGV Tests
- The opportunity to learn to drive different types of vehicles within our Fleet including Skip Trucks, Hi-Abs and Hooks
- A competitive starting salary, increasing with experience
- Minimum 21 days holiday pay per year, increasing with length of service
