  • Training to achieve Forklift, Hiab, Hooklift and Skip Truck licenses

  • Apprenticeship programs in partnership with the College of Further Education
  • WAMITAB (Waste Management and Recycling) Qualifications at Level 1 – 4
  • Other specialist interest, depending on your identified interests and need within the Group



We are recruiting for a Mechanic to work on heavy plant and vehicles, to join our busy department.

Island Waste is part of the Guernsey Recycling Group (GRG). GRG is a leading recycling and waste management company, proudly helping local businesses and households to recycle as much as possible.

We operate a range of operational activities within a fleet and garage environment. This includes undertaking a wide range of mechanical maintenance and repair services to vehicles, plant, and equipment. We have a large fleet of Dustcarts and Skip lorries along with mobile and static plant, so the work is varied.

Qualified Mechanic’s status is preferred; but an individual with experience will be considered. Working knowledge of electrics would be an advantage.

Applicants must hold a valid right to work in Guernsey.

We offer a competitive salary, and 21 days annual leave increasing with length of service. A Secondary Pension and Health Insurance is offered upon successful completion of a probation period.

Hours are based on 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07.00am – 15.30pm, with some overtime when required.
